Qurbani Guide

How to select your Qurbani and maximise on the reward

1. Each person should sacrifice one share

One Qurbani is either a goat or sheep or one seventh of a cow. Prices vary depending on location.

2. Add an Eid Gift for RM60

Send a simple gift to a child facing hardship. A small gesture that becomes a lasting memory and reminder that someone cares.

3. Add an additional share – Prophetic Qurbani

The Prophet (SAW) gave two Qurbanis. One for himself, and one for those who could not afford it. A powerful sunnah to revive.

4. Give a Qurbani package for a family

Select RM600 to cover a Qurbani share, a food parcel, and an Eid gift for a child where it’s needed most.

“A human does no action from the actions on the days of Eid-Ul Adha more beloved to Allah than the flowing the blood (doing Qurbani). On the Day of Judgement, it will appear with its horns, and hair, and hooves, and indeed the blood will be accepted by Allah from where it is received before it even falls upon earth, so let your heart delight in it.”

Qurbani groups explained

In 2026, we’re improving how your Qurbani is allocated! By implementing a grouped-country model, Qurbani is allocated based on need rather than one specific location. This ensures your sacrifice reaches those who need it most, at the right time.

You select the group, the size of the animal you want to sacrifice, and we take care of the rest. We will allocate your Qurbani to one of the countries within your selected group. For example, if you select ‘Group A – Small animal’, your sacrifice will be given to Palestinian Refugees, Pakistan, Syria or Morocco (wherever the most need).

What is Qurbani?

Qurbani (Udhiya) means sacrifice. Muslims around the world, during the blessed month of Dhul Hijjah slaughter an animal – sheep, goat, cow or camel. This act is more than a sacrifice, it is an act of worship, with the means of becoming closer to Allah (SWT). It teaches us that true obedience means submitting to Allah’s will. Qurbani symbolises letting go of something dear or valuable to us for Allah’s sake. We do this by honouring Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) footsteps and his willingness to sacrifice his son for the sake of Allah (SWT).

Sincere intention (Niyyah) for Qurbani must be for attaining Allah’s pleasure alone and as a reminder that we place our ultimate trust in Him.

Highest quality assurance in adherence to Islamic teachings

GRT are operating in the most hostile and impoverished regions across the globe. For most people this is the only time of year they get to taste fresh meat and share with their families on Eid-ul-Adha.

Every aspect of our Qurbani process adheres to strict Islamic guidelines.

GRT carefully sources livestock from local farms and suppliers, enabling local economies to flourish. Our stringent selection process guarantees all Qurbani’s are conducted in strict accordance with Islamic principles. It ensures beneficiaries receive quality, halal and pure meat, whilst meeting regulatory and animal welfare standards.

All animals involved are sacrificed ethically, in true accordance with the sunnah, with the highest level of care and respect as taught by our Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Honouring your Qurbani, is a religious obligation we take seriously, it’s a sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) passed down to our Ummah through Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

In the instance where our Qurbani quota is filled for any given country, we will allocate your Qurbani to the nearest price match of another country.

Who has to give Qurbani?

Offering Qurbani is obligatory (Wajib) upon every able person, according to the Hanafi Madhab and missing Qurbani without a valid reason is considered sinful. The Shafi’i, Maliki, and Hanbali schools regard Qurbani as a strongly recommended act of worship (Sunnah Mu’akkadah).

Across all four major Sunni schools of thought, Qurbani is required of muslims who meet certain conditions:

  • Must be of age (reached puberty) and sane
  • Must be not traveling
  • Must possess wealth equal to or above the nisab threshold (just like Zakat eligibility)

When is Eid Al Adha?

Depending on the sighting of the moon, Eid ul-Adha or sometimes referred to as Qurbani Eid is on 10th Dhul Hijjah.

It is expected to begin on Wednesday 27th May 2026 and end on Saturday 30th May 2026. Dhul Hijjah dates to remember:

  • Dhul Hijjah is expected to begin on Monday 18th May 2026
  • Hajj will take place from Monday 25th May 2026
  • The Day of Arafah is expected to be on Tuesday 26th May 2026

The Qurbani (sacrifice) is carried out following the Eid prayers, which are performed in congregation.

Fulfil your Qurbani obligation

Before Eid-ul-Adha commences, embody the spirit of sacrifice and generosity by fulfilling your duty. Make the sacrifice just like Ibrahim (AS) once did during these blessed days of Dhul Hijjah.

Your contribution, regardless of its size, has the power to bring happiness and relief to families waiting for this blessing.
